Suzanne de Lyon founded Animale in 1987. Parlux acquired the company in 1990 when the founder filed for bankruptcy. They sold the brand on to the Animale Group in 2004. The first perfume that was launched was the self-titled Animale with notes of coriander, green notes, hiacynth, neroli, bergamot, brazilian rosewood, honey, carnation, orris root, jasmine, ylang-ylang, lily-of-the-valley, rose, patchouli, musk, coconut, civet, oakmoss and vetiver. Animal for Men followed in 1993. It features notes of freesia, citruses, neroli, juniper berries, lavender , geranium, leather, oakmoss and vetiver.
