BU by Bhatupe was first hand-crafted in San Francisco at a fragrance designers' "perfume party" following various training sessions by the founder in 2010. This first formula underwent its first public test ever at a women's conference in Los Angeles, in 2011. Product development took place for the following 2 years and finally the entire look, smell and feel of BU by Bhatupe as she exists today begun in Geneva, Switzerland in 2013. In 2014 the first branding work was completed by a Zurich-based agency, whilst work was ongoing on the actual commercial, in-factory production of the perfume in Europe.
