Domenico Caraceni (1880 – 1940) is considered “the founder of Italian tailoring”. He founded his own tailor shop in Rome, Italy in 1913. Domenico came from the Caraceni family that had been a tailoring family for a few generations. His father Tommaso Caraceni from Ortona a Mare taught his craft to Domenico and his brothers Galliano and Augusto. The shop from 1913 was closed two years after due to the war. Domenico Caraceni opened his main shop in 1926 at Via Boncompagni 21 in Rome and later in Milan, Naples and Paris. The Paris atelier was operated by Domenico's brother, Augusto.
