Modern-day Dzintars was formed as a strong trunk with a wide crown, from four intertwisted sprouts which took root one and a half centuries ago. The history of Dzintars begins in the middle of the 19th century. A. Briger’s soap and perfumery factory was founded in Riga in 1849, producing soap, candles, and making perfume and Eau de Cologne using ready-made compositions from France. In the second half of the 19th century and early 20th century, multiple small perfumery and cosmetics companies had sprung up in various Latvian towns.
