Hard Candy is an American cosmetics company, founded in 1995 by Iranian American sisters Dineh Mohajer and Pooneh Mohajer and Benjamin A. Einstein. The product that was first launched by the company was nail polish a shade of baby blue named "Sky". Dineh mixed it herself to match her sandals. Since many of her friends liked the polish, she decided to start selling it. The first sales were done at Fred Segal in Santa Monica, and later ones to other top retailers such as Nordstroms .
