Helmut Lang is an Austrian artist and fashion designer born in Vienna, who now lives and works in New York and on Long Island. He established his trademark in 1978 and had his first international presentation at Centre Georges Pompidou in 1986. He was very successful in fashion design till 1995 when he decided to leave fashion and dedicate his time to art. Lang introduced unconventional materials into the urban uniform and defined the silhouette of the 1990s and early 2000s. He is significant for being the first to stream his collection online, redefining how fashion is communicated.
