Jean-Louis Scherrer (1935-2013) was a French couturier whose elegant designs were a favorite among the wealthy and glamourous. An early stint with famed house Christian Dior had him working alongside Yves Saint Laurent. Both would go on to form their own fashion houses and become celebrated designers in the 1960s. Scherrer managed his house and continued as chief designer until a sale of the brand led to his removal in 1992. The Scherrer brand name continued under other chief designers, finally ceasing fashion production in 2007.
