Oleg Cassini (1913 –2006) was a fashion designer and the iconic style setter. He was of Russian origin, born in Paris as Oleg Cassini Loiewski, the son of Count and Countess Cassini, raised in Florence, Italy and moved to USA in 1936 where he began his career as a designer. He started as a costume designer for big Hollywood studios, his first movie being “I Wanted Wings” from 1941. After World War II, he returned to New York as First Lieutenant Cassini and opened his own fashion house and designed elegant ready-to-wear dresses, while continuing to work for television and Broadway musicals. Later, he became the Secretary of Style for the White House and dresses Jacky Kennedy, perhaps the most famous First Lady. ...
