Donald and Gun Bauchner founded The Perfumer's Workshop in 1971 with the aim of opening a personalized perfume boutique. When the fragrance Tea Rose was presented in 1977 it became an instant success and today most of their products are distributed throughout the world. The brand's products are still manufactured in the US. The company made a name for themselves when they managed to acquire a concession within Bloomingdale's stores. They sold perfume oils which were a hippie signature then, but reworked the idea behind them to be more in line with Bloomingdale's upmarket concept.
