Guided by historical sources and recent discoveries, in 2011 experts finally uncovered the long-sought route of the perfumers within the archaeological site of Pompeii. Via degli Augustali, which connects Via Stabiana and Via del Foro, revealed three ancient perfume shops numbered 26, 27, and 28, dating back as far as the second century B.C. The perfumers of Pompeii were united in an association headquartered near Via degli Augustali, specifically on the upper floor of the Macellum.
