Jardin de France was founded in 1920 in a small town called Amboise. The town is located in the very heart of the Loire Valley, the region often referred to as 'The Garden of France'. Initially the brand was named 'La Parfumerie du Jardin de la France', but over time the name was shortened and simplified. Later on, the house was relocated to Bourbon Lancy, a town with four hot water springs also close to the Loire River. The focus of the perfumery was on making Eau de Cologne, which was to remain its main activity until the 1970's.
