Lucien Lelong (1889 – 1958) is a French fashion (haute couture) designer. His “golden age” was the era from the 1920s to the 1940s. His contemporaries were Chanel, Worth, Patou, Lanvin and Schiaparelli. Lucien Lelong was born in Paris in 1889 and learned the bases of fashion and textile business from his father, a textile shop owner. He was later trained at the Hautes Etudes Commerciales in Paris at the age of 22 (from 1911 to 1913), and by 1914 he had already designed his first collection. In 1919, he opened his own eponymous fashion house and became extremely influential in the Parisian fashion scene regarded as a fabrics connaisseur.
